Senior Systems Security Engineer

Location: New York, NY
Our fortune 500 client’s Network Design & Information Security group is responsible for the design, architecture, development, and security of the internal and client-facing network, security, and virtualization infrastructure. This team is entrusted with the network security policy for all global infrastructure and are the go-to for designing the most efficient and secure solutions for custom and challenging connection requests. They are experts at troubleshooting production problems quickly and with ease and work closely with teams across the enterprise, including Network Security Infrastructure, networking teams, and Cyber Security team.
 
Every day you'll face a unique challenge, or two. Besides navigating challenging connection requests, you'll contribute to the design, review, and implementation of strategic security initiatives. You'll have the opportunity to research and test new technologies for inclusion in the organization’s network security portfolios.

Requirements 
  •  5+ years of experience in firewalls, proxies, load balancers, and UNIX-based systems
  •  Proficient in network protocols like TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, SSL, BGP, DNS, SNMP, VRRP
  •  Proficient at securing systems (e.g. common operating systems, network equipment)
  •  Knowledge of security concepts and technologies such as IPS, VPNs, D/DoS
  •  Working knowledge of common web architectures and related security risks
  •  Working knowledge of large-scale networks including architecture and security risks
  •  Working knowledge of Windows-based operating systems
  •  Ability to write technical specifications and operational documentation

Pluses
  •  Working knowledge of scripting languages, python preferred
  •  Experience with router configuration and administration
  •  Prior experience supporting a large-scale network
  •  Involvement with the Open Source community
